Today we are more than 7 billion inhabitants in the world, each with different habits, ideas and opinions. However, what would happen if we all acted as a great team, with common goals and clear objectives to build a better planet?
We are currently witnessing actions carried out by different actors at all levels, all sharing the same goal: reach a World Without Waste through the transformation of habits and generation of ventures. Fortunately, there are conscious citizens who seek solutions within their reach to generate a positive impact, either by cleaning beaches and water bodies, thinking and designing technology for sustainable consumption, or taking small actions that change the world, such as separating garbage.
In the beverage industry in Mexico, we have learned to value the power of recycling and join forces in favor of the planet and Mexican consumers. Therefore, we have been promoting and developing one of the most robust PET collection and recycling systems in the world for more than 18 years. Currently, we have two recycling plants: PetStar, the largest in the world, and IMER, the first in Latin America. Likewise, we promote circular economy schemes in which each container can have multiple lives which avoids generating waste.
It is important for us to set ambitious goals such as recovering and recycling all of our sold packages by 2030, and integrating a minimum of 50% of recycled material into all our packages.
As part of our efforts, we have launched the “Let’s do this together” campaign, which invites Mexican citizens to join forces with the government and businesses, for a World Without Waste. We want to publicize our efforts as a company and invite people to join, through a dialogue in which we share ideas and raise awareness about the importance of recycling in the world. As part of the campaign, we present the unmundosinresiduos.com platform, with which we seek to open this conversation to share ideas, solutions, ventures and actions in search of a World Without Waste. Currently, we recover six out of ten bottles, and we want to go for the four that are missing.
Why do we do it? Because it is the right thing to do, because it is part of our DNA. Today, Mexico is the leader in collection and recycling in the Americas. It is in you, in me and in each person that we get a World Without Waste. We want you to question, observe and help us.
What do you say? Will you join us?
